Mr.Carline

Dear Calcutt Community,

I am excited to work with the faculty, staff, students, and families of Calcutt Middle School. I am a lifelong Rhode Islander and grew up and taught most of my career in Providence. I began my career in education by working at the Spurwink School, a special education private school that mainly focused on students with behavioral challenges. As I worked primarily as a behavioral specialist, I discovered that I loved teaching and giving back, so I decided to return to school and get my certification in education. Once I was certified, I began teaching at the neighborhood school where I grew up in Providence, Anthony Carnevale. At Carnevale, I had the privilege of teaching children of parents I went to school with and giving back to the community that was so important to me. I left to challenge myself as a Math Coach at Pleasant View Elementary in Providence. Pleasant View is a unique school with 50% Pre-K and nearly 50% Special Education. I developed many leadership skills, working as a math coach and then as the director of school operations while completing my PRN program last year.

Personally, I am a husband and father to two daughters. As you will recognize from my loyalty to the Patriots and Bruins, I am an avid sports and movie fan. You will find that I love to laugh but am also extremely passionate about our work with children. If you need anything from me, ask, and I will do anything to help as soon as possible. Again, I look forward to a great year working with all of you at Calcutt Middle School.

Sincerely

Michael Carline
