Karen Maldonado-Doucet, Guidance Counselor/SLIFE Coordinator at Central Falls High School has been honored as a Life Changer of 2018. "LifeChanger of the Year is an annual program recognizing K-12 educators and school employees across the country. The program celebrates those who are making a significant difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence and leadership."
Karen Maldonado-Doucet was nominated by an anonymous colleague, for being a committed individual who goes the extra mile. Her caseload includes SLIFE (Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education), mostly recent immigrants. In addition to assisting them as a guidance counselor with course work requirements, Ms. Maldonado goes beyond academics and puts a great emphasis on helping students with their social-emotional needs. She removes any barriers that prevent these students from achieving the academic success needed to graduate.
The Central Falls School District congratulates and thanks Ms. Maldonado-Doucet for her work on behalf of our students and families.
