What’s the program all about?
Every college and career requires computer skills. Whether it’s creating websites or coding video games, the REAL Computer Science Program teaches students to to think critically and problem-solve logically. This field is only growing; students who start mastering these skills early-on truly stand out and open numerous doors to future success and opportunity.
What will students learn?
At the REAL Computer Science program, we believe in preparing our students for all aspects of our technology-driven society. We do this through teaching a variety of engaging topics and lessons, all aimed at preparing our students for the real world. These topics and lessons could include:
Designing your own video game
Creating your own website
Building your own computer
Programming with purpose
And many more engaging topics
What courses will students take?
Coursework is driven by our college-certified program, providing students college credits with URI and an internship with the student tech team. Courses may include:
Intro to Computing & Data Science (URI–3 college credits)
Introduction to Web Design–Includes Work-Based Learning with Industry Leaders
AP Computer Science Principles (URI–3 college credits)
Computer Science A (URI–3 college credits)
Our students graduate with 8–12 college credits.
What types of opportunities will students have?
Computer science-related careers are in high demand and are some of the most highly paid. Graduates of our program could go on to become:
