October 11 - Mr. Tudino's and Ms.
G. Borges' Business classes visited the Boston Federal Reserve and Fanueil Hall
Marketplace.
October 13 - Mrs. Bernardino's Hotel & Lodging Academy
II students took a walking tour of Providence including Providence Convention
Center and Visitor's Bureau, the Westin Hotel, followed by a trolley ride to La
Dolce Villa on Federal Hill
October 14 - Ms. Idone's Portfolio class visited Johnson
& Wales to tour their Business Technology department and college campus.
October 18 - Mr. Marchand and Mr. Blais' classes visited
Mr. Perry Raso at an Aquaculture Shellfish Farm in East Matunuck to see
first-hand the operation of a shellfish nursery system and explore career
options in that area.
October 21 - Several classes visited New England Tech's
Automotive Career Day at their new location in Warwick.
October 26 - Over 75 students attended T.F. Green
Airport's Aviation Expo where they toured aircraft from government and private
industry and spoke with representatives on career opportunities within the field
of aviation.

November 2 - Ms. S. Borges' Microsoft
Office class toured the Boston Stock Exchange and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston to
learn more about how technology plays an integral part in affecting our economy
over time.
November 4 - Ms. Liz Hoch, Department Chair from NE Tech's
Business/Technology program addressed Ms. G. Borges' business class on career
opportunities in that area.
November 8 & 9 - I visited Ms. Duplaise's class to
review Job Search Skills and how to prepare for your first job interview.
November 10 - The Hotel & Lodging Academy I & II
students attended Johnson & Wales Hospitality Day at the Radisson Hotel
where they enjoyed a tour of the hotel, lunch and presentations by guest
speakers within the industry.
November 18 - NE Tech hosted Building & Technology
Career Day in which 35 of our Electronics and Technology students participated
in.
November 22 - Mr. Augusto Rojas, VP Community Affairs at
Pawtucket Credit Union began his first class in a 6-part class presentation to
Ms. G. Borges' Money & Finance class on Financial Literacy.
November 24 - Happy Thanksgiving!!!
November 29 - Guest speaker, Jim Ladoucer from Toray
Plastics in North Kingstown, RI will address Mr. Bizier's International Business
Students to talk about career opportunities in that area.

December 1- The Comfort Inn in
Pawtucket is hosting a gala event to celebrate the reopening of their hotel in
downtown Pawtucket since they underwent major renovations last year. The Comfort
Inn is a member of our Hotel & Lodging Academy Advisory Board and is an
integral business partner with our high school.
December 2 - Providence College is hosting a JUMPSTART
business seminar which faculty members from CF High School will be attending.
December 2 - Augusto Rojas from PCU will present Part II
of Financial Literacy program for CF's Money & Finance class.
December 15 - Jeanne Thomason from Barbizon School will be
on hand to speak with Freshmen and Sophomore students on Time Management
and Organizational Skills for two sessions in the morning.

January 10 - Mrs. Sandra
Borges'
Microsoft Word class visited Fidelity Investments Co. in Smithfield, RI.
They are currently involved in the Providence Journal's Stock Market Game so
were very interested in learning about the operations of a major financial
corporation.
January 11 - New England Tech's Allied Health program
director, Joann Fielding, came to address several Health and Science classes
about the career opportunities in this field. She discussed the Surgical
Assistant program that the school offers and brought surgical instruments and
attire for them to dress up in.
January 12 - I presented the first part of the Job Search
Techniques class, featuring Resume Writing to Ms. Antune's Business class.
January 17 - Augusto Rojas from Pawtucket Credit Union
came to present his final class in a 5-part series to Ms. Gina Borges' Money
& Finance class. It has been a pleasure having Mr. Rojas as part of the
curriculum!
January 18 - Part II of Job Search Techniques class,
Interview Skills, presented to Ms. Gina Borges' class. Part I, Resume
Writing was presented later that day to Ms. Gina Borges' class.
January 23 - Ms. Jane Bernardino and I went to AAA in
Providence to met with Michelle Saunders, Workforce Mentorship Program
Coordinator, to discuss plans for the upcoming Job Shadow Day.
January 25 - Paul McConnell from NE Tech came to meet with
Mr. David Costa and myself regarding a possible articulation agreement between
Central Falls HS and NEIT for Architectural Design/CAD.
January 31 - Mr. Bill Volpe and Mr. George McLaughlin from
the Guidance department and I took a group of students to Exeter Job Corps to
tour the new facility and see what opportunities exist for those students
who are not performing well in a typical high school structured
environment.

February 2 - Today 38 students from CFHS
participated in National Groundhog Job shadow Day. We partnered with the RI
Hospitality Association and the Providence Marriott to send 20 students there to
job shadow with employees in several areas of the hotel. We also sent 10
students to AAA in Providence, 6 to Pawtucket Credit Union and 2 to New England
Construction. The students had a great experience and the businesses were
thrilled to have the students present to introduce them to possible career
opportunities within their organizations.
February 3 - Mr. Bizier's and Mr. Tudino's business
classes took a tour of Toray Plastics in N. Kingstown today as part of their
entrepreneurship and international business programs. We toured the plant
and learned about production strategies and costs within this industry.
February 6,7&8 - I met with one of Mr. Michael
Pauls'
ESl classes today to do mock interviews which were videotaped by Mr. Paul. We
later critiqued each interview and discussed the importance of preparing for an
interview in order to secure a job.
February 15 - I met with Ms. Sandra
Borges' class to
discuss resume preparation and worked with them on a draft for them to complete
on the computer.
February 20 - 25 - Winter Vacation!

March 2-3 - Professional Days - no
classes for students.
March 6 - Mr. Dennis Charland, Executive Director of
Independent Insurance Agents of RI came to speak with several business/insurance
classes regarding the career possibilities in the insurance industry. He spoke
about the INVEST program currently in several RI schools and we will look into
implementing it for next year.
March 8&9 - I worked with Mr. Paul's ESL class to use
the CHOICES software program to complete career interest surveys so the students
can start thinking about what they may want to do upon graduation.
March 10 - I met with Ms. Bernardino's Hotel & Lodging
II class to review the elements of an interview and to assist them
in preparing a rough draft for internship opportunities for summer programs at
AAA in Providence.
March 14-16, 21-23 - State Testing for Juniors.
March 21 - Viola Davis, accomplished stage and movie
actress will be visiting our students. As a graduate of Central Falls High
School herself, she returns to tell the students about her career path and the
value of education as it pertains to her career success. She is also a
graduate of RIC and Julliard School in NYC.
March 24 - Tony Bristol, Executive Director of Citadel
Communications will be here to speak with students about careers in the
Communications/Broadcast industry. He will answer questions regarding staring a
radio station within our high school.
March 27 - Mr Jeff Schanck's and Mr. Thompson's law
classes will visit the RI State Supreme Courthouse. They will tour the
facility and observe a trial in session at the time of their visit. They
will also see the cell holding blocks and be able to ask questions to a
representative of the Supreme Court.

April 3 - Diane Postoian,
storyteller from the Looking Glass Theater was at CF High School to meet with
Mr. Occhi's Creative Writing class. She brought humor and fun into the classroom
in a very creative and interactive way. She also spoke about careers in writing
and theater.
April 11 - Mr. Tudino's Small
Business Management class attended an Entrepreneurship Day celebration at
Evelyn's villa in West Warwick. They broke out into small groups and met
with business owners from the community who led a discussion group about the ins
and outs of their businesses. A delicious luncheon followed.
April 17-April 23 - Spring
Vacation!!
May 2 - Maddie Josephs, from CCRI's
Allied Health Programs came to speak to several of Mr. Swain's Science classes
about opportunities in the health field. CCRI has several certification
programs, including a brand new Histotechnician program, being offered at their
Providence and Lincoln campuses. Careers in the health industry are
rapidly growing so any student interested in nursing or medical related jobs
should check out these programs.

May 15 - Jeanne Tomason from the
Barbizon School was here to speak with several classes about career preparation
skills including interview techniques and dressing for success. Her presentation
was interesting and informative and she offers many tips to ensure success in
these areas.
May 17 - RI Construction Career Day
was held in East Greenwich at the RI DOT Midstate Maintenance Facility.
Students who attended from Mr. Blais's and Mr. Marchand's classes experienced
hands-on demonstrations of the various trades in the construction
industry.
May 26 - Students from Mrs.
Bernardino's Hotel & Lodging Academy will present their projects for judging
to Johnson & Wales representatives as part of their Hotel & Lodging
Academy. They created project boards which include examples such as a
beach front hotel, cruise ship, or contemporary style lodging
establishment.

June 6 - Hotel & Lodging Academy
students will take their last field trip of the year to Networkri in Pawtucket
where they will see the operations of this resource facility and then move onto
to tour the Comfort Inn in Pawtucket.
June 23 - LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!!
